Have you ever wanted to experience the thrill of getting your hands on the controls of a working diesel Locomotive.  Well, now you can!  The Churnet Valley Railway will be holding its popular Drive a Diesel Day again on selected dates in 2008.  These sampler courses give you the opportunity to drive a working diesel locomotive (light engine) for over 12 miles through the beautiful Churnet Valley.  See the line from the drivers view, feel the power as you notch up a gear and remember, it’s you at the controls so whether you are an enthusiast or just looking for something different, this is definitely for you.
