Getting to the Churnet Valley Railway

Cheddleton village is on the A520 Leek to Stone road between Leek and Cellarhead (junction with the A52 trunk road).

On entering Cheddleton village, brown tourist signs direct you along either Station Road or Basford Bridge Lane, either of which will bring you to Cheddleton station. The station is approximately a mile from the main road.

Please note:- If you intend to bring a coach party to Cheddleton Station, there is a height restriction of 11' 6" under the railway bridge in Station Road and a 7.5 Ton weight restriction over the canal bridge in Basford Bridge Lane.

Kingsley & Froghall station is on the A52 Stoke on Trent - Ashbourne road at Froghall, access is adjacent 'The Railway Inn' public house. No restrictions apply and the car park is ideal for coaches.

Both stations have large car parks and disabled facilities.

By Public Transport

Cheddleton is served by services 16 Hanley - Leek, operated by Procters and First PMT, and 106 Longton - Leek, operated by D&G Buses. Please note that the Longton - Leek service does not operate on Sundays.

Book to Station Road (Red Lion Inn) or Basford Bridge Lane, from either of which stops the station is approximately 15-20 minutes walk.

Frequent bus services run from Stoke railway station to Hanley bus station.

Froghall station is served by service 235 Leek - Cheadle, operated by Clowes Coaches. Alternatively First PMT service 232 Hanley - Cheadle - Uttoxeter calls at Kingsley, Royal Oak which is approximately 15 minutes' walk from Kingsley & Froghall station.

By Canal

Cheddleton station is a short walk from the Caldon Canal at Cheddleton (Boat Inn).

Consall station is approximately 5 minutes' walk from the Black Lion Inn at Consall Forge.

Kingsley and Froghall station is approximately 10 minutes' walk from Froghall Wharf.
