Raise £75,000 for the purchase of Cheddleton station and platform
Negotiations for a new lease have been taking place over recent months during which the opportunity has arisen to acquire the freehold of the station building and adjacent platform. A price of £50,000 was agreed between the County Council and the Company. The Board unanimously agreed that an acquisition should proceed at this advantageous price.
A contract to acquire the station has now been exchanged and the railway has 3 months to raise the purchase price. In addition, a recent survey of the station has shown the need for a variety of repair works on the roof and guttering. The estimated cost of this work is £25,000.00.
