Visual Art Along The Churnet Valley

If you are looking for a friendly & accommodating railway to assist you in your next project, then look no further.

The Churnet Valley Railway comprises of a 5.5 mile railway, within easy access from the M6 (Junction 15 or 16) whilst also being a 1 hours drive from Manchester airport and 30 minutes from Stoke-on-Trent mainline station. Discover one of Staffordshire's hidden treasures, with a complete ready-made “train set” available to hire, offering three styles of stations each with their own individual features plus a picturesque journey through the idylic Churnet Valley following both the Canal and River. There is also the steeply Cauldon branch, offering a complete contrast through the Staffordshire Moorlands to the valley line. With our restored signalboxes and station buildings, history can be brought to life and complemented with one of our heritage locomotives that can haul a variety of services from passenger to recreational goods trains.

We are able to offer a variety of services, including -:

  • TV, Film & Static Locations
  • Charter a Train
  • Vehicle Testing & Demonstrations
  • Rail Training Facilities

Whether your project is large or small, requires lots of railway action or just a simple station scene, we have the facilities and expertise to ensure it is a success. We are also unique within the UK at being able to offer a recreation of a World War 2 Military Goods, transporting men and equiment from the production to the front line! We have provided the settings for several television and film productions over the years, most recently being for Michael Portillo's Great British Railway Journeys on BBC2.

Facilities available include:

  • 2x Large Car Parks adjacent to Cheddleton and Froghall stations.
  • Catering service available.
  • Choice of locations through the scenic valley, and also up through the Staffordshire Moorlands.
  • Assistance provided to find local accommodation (if required).
